Membership bodies are the cornerstone of much of the world's academic, professional, political and social life, thanks to their ability to rally, inform and represent members. August and long-established as many are, they too are being expected to ensure their internet use maximises value to members.

Many of the UK’s leading Institutions, Royal Colleges and Societies use Media On Demandd to webcast their annual conferences, seminars, training courses and other events. By webcasting these events live, content can be delivered to a wider global audience, whom may not be able, for various reasons, to attend personally. By webcasting them On Demand, the audience are able to view them on-line at their leisure. This is useful for people who were not able to attend the events in person and those who did attend and would like to view the events again.

“We are always keen to explore ways to provide extra value to our members and to ensure the needs of the nursing profession are recognised by the wider community. Media On Demandd provided the perfect solution for us to reach members unable to attend Congress because of work commitments or because they are abroad. We are delighted.”

Another membership body which has recognised the value of reaching out over the Internet is the Royal Institution, which has equipped the Faraday Lecture Theatre in London with StreamPac. This has allowed the institution to cost-effectively manage its own webcasts, which it began with in June 2005 with a series of lectures for schools.
